Disgorged March 7, 2013. Cork was clean but hard as a rock, with no remaining elasticity. Ah, patience: my first bottle of this in 4 years. It's showing just a bit of development, with a golden yellow hue and a delicious farmhouse butter richness developing at the core. This feels like it's still headed toward its happy place; the middle section is a bit slight, and the ending slightly abrupt. Nonetheless, it expanded its energies and held its own over 3-4 hours. I do think Olivier's later vintages show a wider range of emotions, but these earlier wines are still a joy to drink at any opportunity.

Still rather alive, was afraid it would be nearing the end. Nice fruit, buttressed by some bread yeastiness. Good length. Drank well even after being open 1.5 hours.

This was a fairy well made wine, and I think the fruit is high quality. However, I found the wood treatment overwhelming. This was tasted with seven other BdB champagnes, and I found that the thing I enjoy most about these wines is the crystalline fruit, which I thought was overwhelmed by barrique in this wine.

Rauchig, reife gelbe Früchte, schön balanciert, weniger Feuerstein als gewöhnlich. 91
