  • Classic "icono", as they say in Chile. The 2003 vintage was not given enough credit back then. Perhaps the country's wines were not very much regarded at the time. I had an '03 Altair that was outstanding. Classic Carmenère nose, not green and under-ripe as many might expect. Well-made blend with notes of cassis, raspberries, and a hint of mint. Rare bottle. Drink now. It will be interesting to see how the 2005 and 2007 Altura fare, as the vintages are two of Chile's greatest.

  • Black berries, cogumelo, taninos equilibrados, amadeirado com toques tostados e baunilha, e folha de figo. Absolutamente espetacular! Drank in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

  • Very dark colored. Juicy wine with ok acidity and some evident sweetness. Spiciness, grasses. Concentrated. Soft tannin. Very pleasant and complete, juicy wine. Ready now, but no hurry.
