I will preface this by saying that I am generally not a fan of Weinbach as my experience has been a lot of underwhelming wines from this house, but there are some exceptions and this evening was definitely one of them. This one was easy from the get go with lots of extraction and texture while there is still a good whiff of diesel. Quite lush in fact and kept getting better with air. Didn't take TN's as there were plenty of other good bottles to explore but this was definitely one of the more memorable wines of the evening. I would say one of the more enjoyable bottles I had from here.

Monthly Tasting Group: Interesting Whites (ABC) at Heirloom (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): Deep golden color. Followed a small glass over an hour. This seemed rather advanced to me, and it just doesn't seem to match up with most of the notes I read. Baked apple, there's some up front sweetness, ketbut the palate is quite bitter overall, bitter orange, bitter finish, angular. Probably an off bottle, this eventually went into the dump bucket, so no score.

From a 375- this is fantastic, drinking really well right now and has a good balance between sweetness and acidity. Botrytized but not overbearing, just enough to add some caramelization. Can handle moderately spicy Thai.

Fat and rich and all that is good with moderately sweet Alsatian Riesling.

Nothing like the last bottle, unfortunately. No freshness whatsoever. Not corked, but perhaps heat damaged or bad cork seal.
