  • Nice apple nose, but almost complete sugar water. Perhaps a bad bottle or just a bad night to taste, but 'blech'

  • We had Dr. Heidemanns Kabinett last month, and really enjoyed it. I wanted to see if I could taste the difference in this QBA wine. Pale straw yellow, almost platinum in the glass. A very muted nose of honeydew melon, with some herbal notes. On the palate I tasted wet rocks minerality, with indistinguishable citrus flavors. Light to medium bodied without much acidity. The finish was short and featured slight citrus flavors. Disappointing considering how much I liked the Kabinett, although this is a step down in price. There was no complexity, not much fruit, and a short finish. But this was easy to drink, and I think it represented a European Riesling pretty well with the minerality on the palate. At $10 I don't think it's a bad value, but I would probably try other Rieslings before I came back to this.

  • Pale yellowish in the glass. Notes of apricot and red apple on the nose, with ample flavors of red apple, apricot, mineral, and peach in the glass. Medium-high acidity, light body, well-balanced. Crisp, neat finish. A very nice bottle for the money -- a good introduction to German Riesling.
