From memory, this was similar to the Boucherottes though a little more concentrated and aromatic. Perhaps a little licorice/mint on the nose too along with the strong cinnamon and spice notes. I think we both slightly preferred this one.

Medium ruby throughout. Great interplay of cooler wintergreen aromatics with ripe cherry, caramel, and soil on the palate. A terrific mouthful at age 26, and as always, great value and ageworthiness.

Random Burgundies (Nopa, San Francisco): Deep, robust color for age. Medicinal, chocolatey ripe cherries to start. Fairly big wine that lost fruit and became more tannic over time. Better right out of the bottle than with some air.

Bright ruby color with a soft red fruit nose. Sweet red cherry with some tart cherry and black cherry highlights. Fruit is in decline, but still nicely balanced and an elegant, well-integrated wine.

From a split. Extremely soft cork which broke upon extraction. Quite some bricking in this bottle. A nose of rotting red and black fruit, mushrooms, and decaying vegetation. On the palate, the same earthy notes, as well as some light red fruit. Quite light. Lots of acidity, and vanishing tannins. Medium finish.
