  • To my mind the '06 vintage in the Willamette is something of the missing vintage compared with the more notable recent vintages, the difficult '07 and the previous good '04 and '05. This of course might be my own misconception, but one reads very little of greatness in that year. More than four years since making a note on this, I consumed the one bottle of the now defunct Mercotti name (thankfully perhaps). Relatively pale raspberry red, the aroma does not jump into the glass like so many of the WR and most Willamettes. In fact I was reminded more of a Calif version say from the SRH. With more air and warmth it livened up, a pleasant jammy quality emerging, a touch of oxidation evident now. Jammy candied fruit is the theme, pleasant if uncomplicated, not long on the finish, vibrant if not electrifying. Probably past the prime.

  • Creamy candied earth on the nose. Truffles, spice and a little flower arrangement.
Palate a bit thin and a touch of austerity. Nice overall. Easy drinking and yummy.

  • Popped and poured out on the neighbors deck, this got some response, as everyone commented positively. Aromas of dark cherry, strawberry, a medium bodied wine w/a slightly rich dark berry flavor profile, that is very enjoyable. Little bit of a surprise, as I've had the '07 version of this, and it wasn't anywhere near this. As '07 was a difficult vintage in the Willamette Valley, in some cases. This '06 version is far bigger, and w/an alc level of 13.9% for a warm vintage, in check. Yumm factor is up there.

  • This wine has aged quite well and shows. The nose is complex offering aromas of multiple things. Starts by showing hints of clove, cinnamon, bell pepper, dark chocolate, strawberry, forest floor and rose petals. On the palate it is very elegant with a smooth structure and bright acidity. The finish is pronounced and long, it lingers for a while. I think this wine is a drink Now, i do not see this wine getting any better and delivering more pleasure than it is giving right now.
