Again a magnum bottle :) No aging notes, kork was perfect, wonderfull wine! Broader, sweeter, younger than the 1997 magnum. Although this is the better wine on first glance, I would rate it like the 1997 - Barbera can handle the hotter years like 1997 and it seems to prolong its livespan. This wine is a bit less elegant that 1997. Flipside of the coin: more sex - this 99er is sexy, my girlfriend likes it :)

Académie des Cinquante Piemonte tasting (Restaurant De Burgemeester *, Linschoten, Netherlands): Fully mature appearance; on the nose very tertiary, earthy, with notes of lovage and a whiff of gunpowder, good depth and freshness, vestiges of fruit; on the palate well-balanced, gentle but with lovely Barbera-acidity, good weight; very good length.

Complex, yet balanced. Not your typical in-your-face Sangiovese. I like how it changes taste as it breathes.
