The nose has an intense peach note, as well as a mild herb tinge, some almonds, and something that slightly resembles fermenting dough. The intensity here is off the charts, both on the nose and palate. This is one of those super-dense chardonnays of old, before the reductive vogue came into full force. The palate is waxy, rich, and luxurious, with the intensity on the nose following through. Plenty of acidity to balance out all of the sweet fruit elements here. Absolutely outstanding -- this defies the appellation and the style is a true throwback. No signs of premox or rot here -- just killer Burgundy.

This Chardonnay could go toe to toe with more expensive and famous Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet wines. Very attractive light gold color. Bright and refreshing aromas of butterscotch and citrus. The sip has a pitch perfect combination of lemon fruit, edgy acidity, and a hint of butter cream. Very vivacious, bright, and concentrated, but nowhere near its peak. By a considerable margin, the outstanding wine with fish and white meats. The 3 bottles I originally bought of this should have been a full case.

Mmm, an interesting comparison with the 2006 Guffens-Heynen Mâcon-Pierreclos Premier Jus de Chavigne, drunk last June (see note). This bottle was rather less impressive - full coloured, probably now too mature and lacking enough structure to really hold it together. Coped well with rich food, but was cloying on its own.

similar to the prior bottle and such a golden color and initial taste that hard to believe it's not premox, but with some air and time it blows off and again a very pretty, mature and only moderately oxidcized white burg....very nice

awful cork and so had to decant....mature wine and some appropriate signs of age, but not oxidized and really very nice with still ripe fruit and enough acid and minerality...very nice
