This Petite Sirah is immensely good value for money - 1,400 yen for a decent full-bodied wine in Tokyo is virtually unheard of. Concentrated fruit; baked madeira plum, dark cherry, vanilla oak and chocolate. Don't search for complexity or subtlety, but if you're after a jolly good and satsifying full-bodied red at a low price, look no further.

Nose of earth, prunes, dark berry jam and slight honeycomb. Mouth of sour cherries and dark chocolate. Well balanced with some good height and big flavour. Medium length finish of milk chocolate, coffee and blueberries. After an hour or so the tannins do dominate somewhat, so it will be interesting to see whether they will settle down enough if this one is laid down for a few years.

Our first Chilean PS didn't let us down as it was quite varietally typical - Dark, concentrated with notes of sweet plum, raisins and oak on the nose, well structured with medium tannins on the mid-palate, smooth with nice length, very tasty! (90 Points).

First bottle was corked at the restaurant so we sent back for another one. Glad we did.
