First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served Blind. Sour red berries and currant, leather, sweet spice, black pepper, raisins. Medium plus intensity acidity, sour, slightly chalky tannins, black pepper, black hued fruits are a little dried out, plenty of alcohol warmth. Not for me. I guessed 1990’s bad vintage Victorian Shiraz (shame on me)

Decanted one hour before drinking. There is still a nice purple/crimson tinge to this wine. Nose: blackcurrant, cedarwood, eucalyptus. Medium intensity. Palate: medium to full bodied, good balance, the acidity is still there holding it together. I think this still has another couple of years in it. Consumed with beef bourguignon. Excellent.

Pop and pour Palate: interestingly tannin quote strong. Maybe due to non decanted of hasn't stand straight line enough. Plum feels not as juicy as previous bottle. Drier, more eucalyptus, stronger tannin but suffer fruit. Would be interesting to taste tomorrow.

Screw cap, open bottle 30 mins. Slight sediment shown. Colour: very dark red, due to screw cap, still no clear sign of aging Nose: plum, slight mint but not overpowering, earthy some milk chocolaty, soil. Palate: Easy drinking, fruit still full filling the mouth, slight sweetness and some tannin present, soil earthy plummy. Very nice time now, drink up now or the next couple of years.

Dense Red starting to turn brick red at the edges. Excellent body with bouquet and flavours of mint, eucalypt, cassis and ripe dark berries. Good wood. Enough acid to suggest that the wine would develop further with time but this may be a personal preference for drinking older wines versus younger wines. In a good drinking window now and went down a treat with the Sunday roast Lamb.
