  • Very dense colour, showing almost no sign of age. Like a red velvet curtain at the rim. Fabulous, thick, scarlet legs. Quite a heavy nose but not particularly distinctive. It's a very big, concentrated wine on the palate. Lots of oak that is fairly well integrated with the fruit. Modest tannins but good acidity. I think you'd spot it as New world but maybe not immediately identify as Merlot; not the typical plummy breadth, almost more the tightness of a Cab. Very good and probably has 3-5 years left in it.
