Dressner Dinner (Dino, Washington DC): Enjoyed its freshness. Had nice tropical fruits, minerals and beautiful florals. Not incredibly dense when compared to other QdC, but I liked that.

$37.99 retail (500ml). For me, this was nowhere near the level that Baumard achieves year after year. This '02 QdC was a bit over the top and granular in its sweetness; darker than expected color; lacking acid and none of the gorgeous fruit cocktail young QdC typically gives you. In fact, this wine had more notes of brown sugar and caramel than fruit, which leaned towards apricot. Perhaps I would not have been so disappointed if this were a $15 bottle of Coteaux du Layon, but at nearly $40, and from such a great vineyard/vintage, this wine did not live up to its end of the deal, IMO...

Intense, dried fruit, piercing acidity balancing the sweetness. Super.
