Initially seems past its prime with porty sullen autumnal fruit, but opens up with incredibly polished aged raspberry fruit and forest floor with hints of truffles. Autumn in a glass but without the green characteristics that can mar this style. Another California interpretation of Burgundy with plush silky tannins and a long haunting finish. Stunning.

I let this wine breath for 5 hours. The nose had a nice mix of cherry and rhubarb, a little spice, and hints of earth and vanilla. The palate was silky smooth, and had berry and rhubarb, some cherry, and a nice finish of spicy oak.
