What an awesome showing for this wine. Initially, upon opening, it showed very primary: tons of red cherry fruit, smooth tannins and a bit alcoholic. We cooled it down (it was a tad hot at 77°F) and let it air. With time, it took on more sappy (terpene) notes and also took on more raspberry of a fruit profile. By the end of the bottle, it resembled nothing so much as a good Burgundy in its very young stages, though it still had more fruit than most Bourgognes have. Anyone still holding onto a bottle might want to wait even longer, perhaps another 3-5 years, to see what changes time will bring.

Opened a bottle up with smoked quail last night, and it didn't disappoint. The nose was sappy, smoky and earthy with a hint of oak and lots of red fruit. Rich and primary with great structure, this wine is in no danger of fading any time soon. I'm going to give my other bottle another 4-5 years to see where it goes. Yet again, ABC proves to be one of my favorite CA PN producers.

Solid pinot. Good structure. Red fruits, spice, smoke. Pleasant without cloying. Very fresh. Medium finish.
