Wow, this was just insanely good tonight. Fruit is still there, especially on the front end, but the midpalate and long, staining finish are dominated by pure rocky mineral essence. Spectacular near-dry riesling experience. If not for the initial cool/round fruit on the attack, I would have guessed Austrian Smaragd. Just a killer wine, year in and year out.

Another great halbtrocken from Tim Frohlich; expressive leesy lemony nose followed by more of the same plus herbs and minerals (and I could swear I tasted a bit of anise) on the zippy palate. Plenty of fruit, plenty of balancing acidity and the price is right - what could be bad? SF is fast becoming a desert island grower for me . . .

(Schafer-Frohlich Estate Halbtrocken) Amazingly vivid and bright wine with racy acidity that leads to a phenomenal mineral twang on the finish. Great concentration. Exceptional value.
(Schafer-Frohlich Estate Halbtrocken) Always a reliable QPR every year and this year may be the best yet. Minerally and almost pine needle resinous nose. Lovely crunchy minerality comes through on this palate. This wine always needs six months to a year 9n bottle to flesh out. I will try one soon as its getting to that time of year.

great acidity, very slightly off-dry, medium-long finish, rocks, drank a bit too cold for the nose.
