Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Friday, August 10, 2001 Golden yellow straw in color. An off nose of lemon, oak and chemicals (not sulfur). The flavors were very disappointing. A very short burst of lemon followed by the strangest taste I have every had in a white wine: salt or rather the salt/chemical flavor you’d expect from treated lumber followed by oak, oak and more oak. The two days later, the wine had settled a little bit: a little more lemon, considerably less of the chemical nose and flavors and a little bit of vanilla, but still far too much oak. Not complexity; no subtlety. This is one of the worst white wines I’ve ever tasted. With broiled salmon topped with a mustard herb sauce. 8/10-12/01
