Young wine! Initially the nose was very Bordeaux like. Pencil led, wet mushrooms. Finish was hot and tannic BUT showed a lot of potential. 4 hours later the nose closed a bit and the heat blew off tannins softened. At 4 hours was eucalyptus bomb nose and soft, lingering finish of lush berry. I think this wine has a ton of potential. Very exciting wine, just not in its best spot right now IMO.

A dark brown garnet color, med viscosity. A nose of pencil lead, wet peat, light hints of fresh manure & fresh berries. Drinkable right away & opens up beautifully as well. Although a Bolgheri wine made from Bordeaux varietals, it had a very old world style! Subtle dark berry flavors that layer the palate but with very expressive terroir, kirsch, wet wood, faint hints nutmeg & cardamon. Very well balanced with a med long finish; very enjoyable. Had it with a little Italian, a coupla' nights later with a limb & asparagus dish (although it could barely keep up with the lamb & asparagus) and even later as an after dinner quaffing. Would buy more if it was accessible.

I bought 6 bottles of this about a year ago and this was my last. We have consistently enjoyed this bottle with a wide range of foods. It is medium bodied with some fruitiness up front. Smooth finish. I will be looking to buy future vintages as well.
