Super-concentrated; needs at least two hours of decanting. Fresh cut cedar, red and black fruits, truffle, roasted meats, and exotic spices. Everyone was really impressed by this wine.

In a weird phase I guess, Drank alongside Guado and Saffredi of the same vintage. This one was the less appreciated of the three but it is still a great wine. Now the 2017 is more accessible.

I don’t get the greatness of this wine because it’s not great. Decanted two hours. Drank over the next 90 minutes. Extraction is light. Layers of flavors are Ok. My son at Christmas said I’ve had enough Italian wines now to say the French Bordeaux is way better. I totally agree. Honestly the 2015 Tenuta di Arceno Valadorna for $45 is as good as this wine. My days for paying $75 a bottle for Italian wines is over. My son is right.
A terrific evening of 2016: Saffredi, Tignanello and Argentiera. The Argentiera was the winner for me and number two for some. An exceptional wine, almost perfect. I was quite surprised how the three wines showed so young, only the Tignanello seeming too young. Of course no hurry to drink it but I will not make the mistake to wait too long as it’s so great right now.
