  • This is definitely not a Monday through Friday wine, unless your anniversary (for AA or otherwise) falls during the week. We consumed this on Monday: (1) because it's drinking window appeared to be ending based on the views of the hoi polloi here on Cellartracker; (2) Monday was tough; and (3) it paired well with dinner. . . which, honestly, didn't depend on what we were cooking. This wine was fantastic. It was as if my (SMS's) hometown of Escondido, California was giving us a warm, oral welcome with a mouthful of luscious trimmings. Cherries, raspberries and a hint of San Pasqual Valley Lavender rushed across our palates, seeming never to touch our tongues. If that waited for us every Monday upon our return from chasing the elusive billable hour, then we might take it for granted. Our yearning for places left long ago remains, although assuaged momentarily thanks to the polished purple elixir called "Val de la Mer." Drink this now or within the next year. When the last drop has made its way down, recline there temporarily to take in all that happened, or step out for a smoke. Thank yourself before turning in or yearning for its return. (SMS)
