Here I found a display of dark woodsey tones with blueberry skins, sweet herbs, dusty florals and baked cherry. On the palate, it was soft yet zesty with lively acidity maintaining freshness as mineral-tinged blackberry and violet floral tones intermixed. It finished with medium length, never cloying, and wonderfully fresh. What a beautifully mature Merlot, and another testament to how the bad rap that Merlot received in the NEw World is completely unfounded.

Wine started with soft cork which broke on opening which caused some concerns. After opening, wine surprised with solid color with only tinge of Amber. Nose was non discript but flavor was big. Wine was much tighter than expected. As it opened up, the fruit became more pronounced. The wine improved with additional time. Wine still could have had additional time but since it was my last bottle, I will never know for sure.

Wine had good color and drank well without too much breathing. Color good and went well with lamb. Not a fan of Merlot but his was very good. Easily finished by two. Good finish and aftertaste. Almost French-like in finesse.
