From a half bottle (€10 a half in Carrefour in Aosta earlier this year - surprised to see soemthing this mature!)
Colour about right for a barolo at 11 years old, showing a progression from purple/garnet at the core, through red, to a decent band of chestnut/mahogany at the rim.
A little fumey on the nose, but with supporting cured meats and floral red fruits, all of pretty good intensity/complexity.
Juicy sweetness to the red fruits on the palate, supported by some background tree bark/earthiness. Acidity is relatively prominent, but not aggressive and the tannins still offer a grip that creeps up rather than being immediately apparent.
All in all very good, though the fuminess can get up the nose!

Past its prime, drink'em if you got'em! Had one in 2005, overly tannic, not so now. Big leather, meager fruit.
