  • Rich, dark and a little austere. Flavours of dark chocolate and intense English tea with only very slight hints of fruit in the background. Good tannins. Leans toward an old world style with only slight hints of new world. I would not have guessed that it was 14 years old; seems younger. Not a hedonistic wine, but good with food. Overall a nice wine. I'm happy to have found this hiding in the cellar. 13.5% alcohol according to the label and this seems in the ball park. Update: I tried this again after it had been open for a day - between a third and half the bottle was left over - it sat on the counter with the cork in the bottle. On balance I think it was better the second day. Flavour profile was similar but the fruit was more prominent. Chocolate, tea and tannins with nice dark fruit poking through. I expect this wine has a lot of life left in it.

  • Nice, elegant, balanced, a bit tired.

  • The cork hardly needed any pressure to pull it out, and the wine was clearly oxidized. I'll try another bottle soon.
