Interesting nose, with earth and mushroom notes giving way to dark fruit. A bit less complex on the palate, but nonetheless quite enjoyable. Showed good structure and held up well to the flavorful NY Strip it accompanied. Relaxed a bit over the course of the next hour in the glass. Seems to be in its prime, but probably doesn’t have a ton of time left. Drink up!

I served this in my wine course. Darker fruit and lower pitched nose than the Volnay. Sweeter tannins. Also perfectly balanced, although just a touch of austerity in the finish.

While others loved it I found it a bit rustic and medicinal. Not over the hill, but also not all that polished.
