Slowox for 4 hours before dekant. Initially a very smooth and soft mouthfeel with lots of dark cherries. Some leather evolves. After another hour a touch of menthol followed by aniseed. A long tasty finish. Tannins M++ with a ballancing acidity. There are several more years left before hitting the downslope.

The "La Grola" from Allegrini comes from a single vineyard called "La Grola" in the heart of Valpolicella. Mostly chalky soil dominates the condition of the soil. "La Grola" was the first vintage wine from Valpolicella who enterd the marketplace in the 80s.
Grape variety: Corvina Veronese (70%), Rondinella (15%), Syrah (10%), Sangiovese (5%) In this year the grapes were picked in October and barrel-fermented in french oak for 18 months. After bottling the wine additional gets 10 more months on the bottle before selling.
The nose shows aging notes. Wet forest floor, leaves, coffee and chocolate mixed with red cherry and strawberry. Light-medium bodied with no evidence of tannin, this wine definitely reached its peak. The acidity is still there but not that much.
If you have some bottles left, drink up soon this wine will not evolve anymore.

This is not fading at all. Great nose lots going on the palate and a nice finish. I've been working through a case and with 4 bottles left this might be the best one yet. Corniva!

Found a couple of these kicking around in a random bin. I figured this was gonna be going down the sink, but it actually is pleasant enough....
Modern, open knit style is not my normal bag. Plum coffee and chocolate nose. Oak treatment is obvious in the mouth with vanilla, juicy red fruit and cocoa. Kinda flabby but nice texture, some grippy tannins surround a hollow mid palate. I would drink up soon, this is gonna get flatter quick....quaffable.

Ripe. Cherries and some licorice. Not much acidity left but enough to still be quite enjoyable.
