The 2004 Les Dionnieres shows black fruit, asphalt, meat, spices in the nose - typically for Syrah. On the palate the same but the finish comes along with a "cut" with complex, fresh minerality which obviously comes from the lime rock where this wine grow. Nice balance between fruit, acidity, minerality and a certain freshness. I somehow find all these impressions very well and sharply defined. Nice wine which should keep that level for at least another 5 years or so.

I would be hard pressed to say that I've ever tasted a better wine than this. A very polished 100% Syrah (Northern Rhone) Ermitage. A nose of dark red fruit ( Black currants, black berries, plum, etc. The dark fruit carries over to the palate with lush dark berries with some northern rhone spice. Right now it is balanced to near perfection with a solid tannic foundation. A long lingering finish leaves you with a fine appreciation for truly great syrah.
