  • A very classically styled wine with a lot of depth. Drunk over two nights, it displays a medium red color with ever so slight bricking, suggesting it has already begun to approach full maturity. Not surprisingly, much of the flavors are very earthy: ash, tar, and iron all wrapped up in some subdued red fruit notes that were just very well balanced. What really struck me about this wine was the tannins - I think they are very present but in a way that blends very well with the fruit as opposed to wines that have high tannins due to bad berry selection. I'd mistake this for a Bordeaux given how well the earthy elements are integrated with the fruit. Even after 24 hours, it still was well balanced and despite the telltale bricking, will likely continue to evolve for at least another 15 years.

  • Textbook Hermitage - bloody, metallic & mineral rich; leads with small dark berries. After a couple hours, dried herbs and game aromas/flavours emerged. Was delicious over several hours. Drinking so well right now.
