Monthly Tasting Group EEE #013; Italian Islands (@ TB): Dark yellow and still ripe fruits like bananas and apricots in the bouquet. On the palate ripe apples, nuts, some tart lemon, limestone a lot of bitterness and also alcoholic. Not really pleasurable and even though it was a bit too old I nevertheless score it.

Bought this on sale at BevMo having tasted this in Sicily Sept 2011 at the winery -- tasted the current vintage in Sicily. A little bit worried when I got home and found the recommended drinking window here that it might prove disappointing. As it was, it was a nice white paired with the proper foods (we tend to be a glass of wine with dinner type individuals). Don't know that I'll rush back to BevMo to buy the last few bottles they have, but happy that the purchase didn't turn out poorly.

to smell: strong vanilla over ripe melon. to taste: more vanilla and melon layered into a very pleasant minerality; lively acidity. a very good value, given what one usually finds in the < $10 ranks.

Medium gold color with oak and chalky minerals on the nose; Intense melon flavors on the palate and vanilla oak and white flowers on the finish. Finished somewhat bitter on the palate, acids or alcohol? It is probably overoaked but interesting and a good starter/cooking wine/glass for the cook. A good buy under $14.
