  Nice, fully-mature Washington merlot. I've been pleasantly surprised by how well my Washington merlots from '94-'98 have been holding up - and in some cases, even improving. Still lots of dark fruit (plums, blackberries) and good structure and balance. Coffee and a bit of smoke on the palate. Good round finish. Not complex, but a solid wine.
