Lovely sparkling wine. Pale yellow. Fresh and zesty nose with a good minerality. A piercing minerality on the palate with lime zest and hints of green fruit. Good verve and energy. Probably too young today.

Lancelot-Pienne, Tarlant Brut Zero, Dirler, 89 Reiussec, 06 Littorai (San Francisco): First of the bubblies, opened and consumed while waiting for the plumber to clear the kitchen drain. Nice, a bit simple, very moussy with some red fruits that started to emerge, limestone but a little hollow in the mid palate and clipped on the finish. At $20, a decent pickup.

without question the best sparkling wine that is not champagne that i've had this year, except for the huet 2002. and that is a very different wine. this one, a pinot blanc and without dosage, is autolytic and ripe and balanced and totally dry but also quite rich. just excellent wine.

Very nice yeasty sparkler with notes of apple, pear and a bit of fig. Very rich and delicious, with a nice minerality to balance it out. Quite tasty.
