  Wonderful.
  The last bottle, consistent with my memory of several bottles drunk over the past approx 2 years - solid, flavorful, principally dark and medium red fruit, delicious Red Burgundy, the tannins fully integrated (as they should be, 17 years old), a lower register note of sous bois, with a beautiful balance of acidity which kept the bottle lively until the last drop.
  
  For a "simple" wine, this is as good as it gets.

  This "canary in the coal mine" simple Bourgogne has a message - time to drink, and time to begin going up the ladder (1er cru, etc.). All elements of construction now knit together into a seamless, very satisfying drinking experience - middle red fruit predominates, some cherry highlights, commingling with woodsy/ earthen notes, and a tart finish.
  
  Best shortly after opening (no decant necessary, and I would advise against), there is a certain fragility/ lack of material (undoubtedly the source grapes) that begins to break down with too much air/ time open, in the glass, as the fruit begins to dissipate and the acidity begins to ramp up.

  Beautiful color. Nose has berries and barnyard. Medium body. Cherry and spice are dominant, but the back end is sour and awkward.

  In the glass a medium garnet to the rim and a nose of cherry, light oak and a hint of spice - In the mouth a slightly tannic impression that yields to cherry but the tannin continues through the finish - should be much more enjoyable in 2 years. Not complex but the core of cherry will make this very enjoyable.
