Really nice. It's very balanced. It's got a bit of lightness to it while still keeping that barolo power. I was surprised at how little the age really came through. Darker fruits. Touch of spice. My favorite of the bottles although for the cost the Barbaresco from Borgogno was really singing.

50th Birthday Winefoolishness (Chicago, IL): Showed decently, but I suspect some air would have made this much better. The nose is intense with dried dark cherry and plum. Some balsamic notes as well. Palate is well balanced with a lighter body. Fruit is tertiary with old leather and earth. Nice depth and intensity. Was just starting to show it's stuff when we had to move on to the next flight. A few points of upside with more air, I think.

50th Birthday Celebration Dinner with Wine (Hughes House - Chicago IL): In fun 1967 flight with mushroom soup, all opened 15-20 minutes before serving. Charming aromatic start with licorice and fully mature red cherry, followed by similar and good flavors. Dropped off precipitously within 10 minutes in glass. Not a group favorite.

Slow-oxed for 12 hours upon opening into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Pale garnet with orange tints.
Very savoury, mature red cherries.
Minerality driven and very highly acidic on palate.
Slightly more advanced on the flavours than expected.
94 points.
Second round: floral spices, a lot of energy on palate.

Fourth Annual White Truffle Dinner (David Burke's Primehouse - Chicago IL): Unusual bottle, not characteristically Barolo in any way.
