Bricking around the edges as it hit the glass. Not much bouquet right out of the bottle. As it sat, everything opened up. Dried fruits, vanilla, a hint of oak. After two hours, this was singing!! What a finish - lasts for minutes. So well made - could have been mistaken for a high end aged Pomerol. Best part? Found on "close-out" for $50!!

Agree with Blake Brown - this wine stays with you long after it's gone. Incredible fruit, strong tannins that need at least 2hrs to tone down, very long finish. Merlot in Italy can be more aggressive and grippy due to heat, small berries and vine stress. I like it. Reminds me of Petrolo Galatrona. Has minimum 15 years left. Memorable. 94+.

2004 QUERCIABELLA PALAFRENO TOSCANA- 100% Merlot; another gem with fabulous feel and texture along with really nice fresh and spicy blueberry and blackberry from the nose thru the tail; the fruitiness was beautifully evident before I got my nose on it and it held on graciously forever; it`s still on my palate albeit 3 days later.
