Second wine at GG Resort dinner and this time bought a bottle. New producer- cranberry, not the lush mouthfeel of right bank Bordeaux (whihc I didn’t expect), 99% dark chocolate, mineral, not overly interesting, thin, juicy, lite tannins…boring, headed to Bolgheri on the 5th with tastings set up for 6th & 7th.
Saving half bottle for day two with not a lot of hope.

Querciabella tasting (Jeroboam HQ): Merlot, first vintage 2000, production 3.000 btl, average yield 25hl/ha Alcoholic fermentation and malolactic convention took place in 3tn French oak casks, maceration for 18 days, maturation in French barriques for 12 months. Palafreno is bottled no sooner than 26 months after harvest -//- The wine shows ripe fruit, the wine is more on the red fruit, blue fruit, silky, very fresh, spring like juicy in the nose, floral and quite ethereal, its more for immediate pleasure, far easier on the nose In the palate, the wine is rather lean, dry red fruit, high in tannins and acidity feels quite dry, harsh and aggressive, doesn’t seem it will come around any time soon. Really different Merlot
