1995 Barolo Rüncot, Elio Grasso. Gianluca, the son of Elio Grasso, produced the first vintage of this vineyard in 1995. Unlike his father, from the very beginning, he has relied on aging in barriques for this Barolo. The nose today is stunningly beautiful: lots of rosewood, violets, tar, a little smoke and sour cherry, cherry marzipan; clear and precise, a little forest soil. On the palate, it can't completely fulfill the promise of the nose, the tannins (from the wood?) are a bit too stubborn even after 25 years. Good, present acidity, very clear and expressive aromas that reflect the impressions of the nose, a touch of charcoal. Good structure, a really beautifully matured and dense Nebbiolo, which shows great class, but due to the slightly drying tannin gets deductions in the B note. 92/100 2020 - 2027

Steak wines @ Lurra (Lurra, London): Nicely floral, fragrant nose. A bit more bite than the Corino. Proper Barolo. This is lovely. ****

nose: red cherries, bits of vanilla, herbs and dark spice tones On the palate extracted with a bulk of bitter tannins.
