The color of this wine does not match it's age. I was expecting something totally bricked out- but this wine wasn't. The color is a deep ruby, with some slight bricking at the edges. Notes of tar, cherry, tobacco, and old wood and a slight funky barnyard aroma. In the mouth the wine has no perceptible tannin, barely any fruit acid left, but still seems youthful- considering the age. Flavors of cherry and raspberries, dominate a spicy note- almost like pumpkin pie spices in the wine. I feel like the wine's finish is longer than the entry, but it's still very, very good wine. Dark black-red color with limited transparency. Consumed from bottle impulse grabbed from horizontal storage in rack, but managed to avoid mixing of moderate amount of sediment into the wine. Aromas of smoke, cherry, pine, and tar. Palate has tart cherry, black olive, black truffle, and iron notes that carry into a medium finish. This shows freshness that belies its age. Drinking fine, but could fill in some more mid-palate depth with some more time in the bottle based upon past experiences with Amity wines of this era. Drink or hold.
