Whenever something vaguely Asian-y/spicey emerges from Dulcie's kitchen, one's mind turns to the Alsace; it seems their wines are crafted for almost any food experience, particularly this genre. Pale straw color. muted nose of some aromatics and petrol, a hint of wet stone, nice mouth-feel, a mix of Asian fruit and pear, good acidity, some residual sweetness. Should always have a few on the shelf.

The Middle Kingdom: Alsace, Austria, Germany, Hungary, etc. (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): This has a powerful smokey nose that is nearly dominated by bisquity character but the sweet underlying fruit just reveals itself. The palate reveals glossy powerful yellow flavors and comes across as slightly heavy and alcoholic. The fruit shows nice sweetness but the style seems slightly blowsy for my taste.

A tasty Alsace with restrained but distinctive sourness, acidity, and fruit. Tested at room temp. Twist and pour. Tight nose of slightly sharp pear fruit and petrol. In the mouth had sweet and sour chewy pear and mildly sweet white grapefruit flavor with hints of floral and a touch of poultry fat. Finish lingered with warm slightly acidic fruit. This wine might go quite well with pears, a small dose of sharp blue cheese, a savory spice, frisee, and walnuts. Well, I'll test it first and let you know.

Delicious factor is high. Complex aromatics with floral, nut and pear. Mild toast aroma. Drinks a bit off dry, but with high tingling acidity. Yum. Pine resin quality. Some earth on finish. Really good with mild and funky cheese!
