  • Previous btl 4-1/2yrs ago. Opened 3hrs b4 dinner. Took a test pour sniff lead to further slow-ox in my Riedel Burg & btl till dinner. A little reductive at first but cleaned up W/I 1/2hr. Translucent crimson red w/ light bricking. Beautiful nose & placid palate. Didn't take long for tertiary roses & forest floor aromas flowed. Palate carries over forest floor to compliment rainier cherry, spice, mushroom & minerality. Signature Mugnier lacy elegance that immediately screams Chambolle. So weightlessly pretty & ethereal! Love Freddy's silky textures! It's palish red color & feather weight bely it's concentration & persistence. 12.5% alc. Not sure how much this will improve but may be worth waiting for its 20th? I sat up the btl at a slant overnight for the sediment to collect to the back bottom. Loved it tonight and no regrets about opening my last of 4! Fun w/ pan seared Ahi & good friends tonight. Classic Mugnier! 95+

  • Splendid wine and again Freddy's providing a magical moment. Super seductive, most refined and light on its feet, but profound and very, very complex. Fruits are just starting to fade to let the secondary elements come through the terroir and boy this is really magical. So complex, so subtle and yet so deep. How can anyone make such a mesmerizing wine, not even thinking of what category it is in; village, 1er cru or grand cru. This has so much to enjoy and to contemplate than many of grand crus and we, my wife and I, are at awe with admiration and enjoyment while being transported into happy clouds. Cheers,

  • I’ve always found this reductive and this is no exception. Unlike the Maréchale though (burnt rubber smell = mercaptans) this has an eggy (sulfide) smell which I think is more likely to blow off.
The underlying wine is very pretty. I’m going to leave it until tomorrow.

  • Opened this btl just over 3yrs & 2 months since the 2nd of 4. This is now close to peak but should hold for 3-5yrs. Ill try to wait at least 3 for my last btl. Translucent crimson color with some bricking. First sniffs and sips were promising so I chose to simply slow ox in Burg glasses and btl for 90 minutes prior to dinner. Upon opening showed some match stick that blew off quickly leading to tertiary underbrush and roses aromas. Palate carries over the underbrush adding; rainier cherry, spice, mushroom and minerality. Signature Mugnier lacy elegance that immediately screams Chambolle. Very weightlessly pretty and ethereal! It's palish red color and feather weight bely it's concentration and persistence. Impressive!!! 12.5% alc. Way too bad this lovely, enticing wine I've paid as little as $35 for now is listed for $200+ pretty much everywhere. You might, be able to find 2013 for less than $150. That said, excepting the also fantastic NSG Clos Marchalle and maybe still Les Fuees, this is far and away the most bang for the buck in the lineup. Just not much Mugnier to go around :).
