This simple bourgogne was perhaps the best Anne Gros wine that I've ever drunk. Granted, I've never tasted her Richebourg, but have been underwhelmed by many bottles of Combe d'Orveau & Vosne Romanee les Barreaux. The color was much darker than I would have expected for an '07, particularly at the bourgogne level. The nose featured dark fruit and a hint of Vosne spice--I'm not sure where she sources the grapes for this wine, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was in Vosne. There was a pleasant mouthfeel, & the darker fruits predominated in the mouth. The finish was clipped, but again for a bourgogne from a less-than-hailed vintage, it was a pleasing wine. It's just a shame that table bourgogne from known producers now costs $25-30.

This wine has evolved significantly since 1 year ago when I found it unimpressive. Now a nose of dark fruit with chocolat and caramel. Medium bodied taste, sweet and soft cassis fruit, slightly mineral. Caramel in the finish.

Even for a Bourgogne there was not much going on here. Rather flat and unbalanced.

A better integrated bottle. No dry finish here. Lovely "tout cour".

Quite much toast/wood. Therefore a little dry finish. Nevertheless lovely for a Bourgogne tout cour.
