  • Way different than my last bottle. This one totally devoid of the pedestrian front-end fruit, it's now developed into a very complex, almost cerebral, old-world beauty. Only now, after nearly 2 hrs., is it starting to morph back into a modern crowd-pleaser. At the price point, you really can't find anything nearly as interesting on these shores.

  • I'm hoping this isn't a self-fulfilling prophecy...having had high expectations and a positive recollection of my last encounter (probably an '03 or so) but this wine is real good! Aromatics that started out a tad funky, turned earthy & intriguing and faded just slightly into New World Euro but more importantly, avoiding that fruity sappy-ness or funky acidity. Not initially aware, the bottle says 80% Tempranillo with 10% each of Cab & Merlot; I can't think of a better blend. Although just a tad thin up front, this wine blossoms in the mouth and fills out nicely through the mid-palate; finishing with smooth & sweet though definitive tannic structure. I'm very impressed and can only imagine how much more this would shine if drunk with a meal; though it's perfectly enjoyable in the absence, thereof. Able to be found at ~$15, this is a formidable QPR.

  • First try was great.. silky textured, balanced and subtle ... second taste was a little worse ... less balanced (different bottle?)
