Intronizzation Night for Rhone (Lafayette): Elder statesman of the Beaucastel which was a popular wine for the evening. This is more secondary in nature with the fruit a lot more faded. Still quite nice. Very light. Funny because just from a color perspective I might have called it a burgundy. Fun to try.

Unbelievably fresh and vibrant. Earthy and herby cherry and raspberry fruit that has medium concentration. Leather, dried herb and spice accents throughout. Held on strong for a few hours.

"I wanna start clapping" (Chicago, IL): Incredibly fresh and clean; this is far cleaner and livelier than wines one quarter the age (I'm looking at you, 2007). Clearly plummy and ripe, with more of a earthy tone than funk. Clean. Plenty of acidity, and the fruit sweetness here makes this still an amply compelling bottle of wine. It held up incredibly well over the course of the evening.

Early dinner gathering (Capital Grille, DC): Subdued nose, faded fruit but the palate is sweet.

Oxidised nose, madeira driven palate and clearly very aged, fairly drinkable but past peak as expected.
