Taken on a new complexity. Deep garnet colour. Clean nose... bright. Still holding up well ! The fruit has clearly diminished but there is still acidity that plays well with a beautifully sweet finish. Tobacco, flint, full mouth feel. Still big and juicy ! Aged so gracefully.Great for a 23yr old Aussie. Fine winemaking, great value, looking forward to my last 1998, in a few years!

It's amazing to think that when I first bought this wine (some five years ago), I thought it a restrained, classic sort of wine that could conceivably be mistaken for a ripe claret. Now it has a huge minty cassis nose and palate that could only be Australian - bags of extract, glycerine, sweetness, a great whack of sweet oak. Obvious, but it really hit the spot tonight.

Concentrated flavors but somewhat tired. Past it's prime.

Quite classy, blackcurranty fruit, supported by dry pencil lead oak. Perhaps has lost a bit of zing compared with a couple of years ago. But good.
