Bought 3 of these from Garagiste back in 2009, drank one shortly after arrival - wasn't impressed. 8 years later - Pop and pour, consumed over 3 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, raspberry, red licorice, and pine needles - very nice. Palate: Medium bodied, slightly tart red fruit attack, plenty of acidic back-bone, hints of cinnamon and spice appear thru the mid-palate, tart and slightly musty red fruit dominate the back-end and stick around through a medium length finish. This has evolved wonderfully over the 8 years it's been in the cellar, shows some rough edges but has something to offer from front to back, plenty of life left here also.

(COTE PIERRE LYS Pinot Noir Antugnac) Pinot Noir Dear Friends, Ok, this is a major offer that should prove to be one that I reference in 2009 as "tough to top" - it's only January but judging by the response to the regular version of this wine, look out... Domaine Antugnac's 2007 Pinot Noir was one on those celestial confluence wines - stunning vintage, terrific critical acclaim and ridiculous value that lead to one of 2008s most popular offers. With the fervor over 2007 in the south of France well established (this wine is produced in the Aude - a southern vinous youth culture hotspot), Antugnac's Pinot Noir was hailed as a breath of fresh air in a sea of over-priced plonk riding the wave of "Sideways" as far as popular culture would allow: That's what I would call high praise for a wine we offered last summer for less than $10. This is one instance where our relationship with a grower makes all the difference - where most are charging $15 or more for the regular 2007 Pinot Noir noted above by Schildknecht (we charged $9.99 last summer which made it one of the best buys of the last several years), today we have the reserve level wine, the "Cote Pierre Lys" for less than the suggested cost of the basic bottling - that's the definition of a world class bargain. From hand-picked parcels of the very best grapes in 2007, the Cote Pierre Lys is akin to their 1er quality fruit as opposed to the village-level of the regular bottling. With the price of Pinot Noir at excessive levels world-wide, this is almost impossible to bring to market at this price - especially for a 2007 from this area (the insanity over 2007 CdP, Languedoc and Roussillon wines has even surpassed my prediction and prices are not what I would call cheap). If the regular Pinot Noir was worth buying by the case at $15, what does that make this? I'll just leave it at that. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as an eye-popping value that showcases one of the world's most expensive varietals for a song. This parcel is directly from the source with perfect provenance: 2007 Domaine Antugnac Pinot Noir "Cote Pierre Lys" (Aude) (please be patient with Niki as we are expecting a larger than normal response to this). It will ship during the Spring shipping season. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA SOFR8910

QPR star. Still going strong. Stony cherries. Still zippy acidity. Tasty. No oaky creamy nonsense here. Incredible that this cost $14.

A light version of pinot noir. Light in color, fruit. Very un-cali pinot, in a good way. Good acidity. Still alive on night 2,3. Food friendly.

Terrible. Thin and astringent. Probably over the hill. Waited too long. Another Garagiste disappointment.
