What a wonderful surprise....this is a $15 bottle that is now 17 years old and it is just incredible. Still lots of underlying dark red fruit, very soft tannins and a silky smooth mouthfeel. A stunning achievement for a small price.

1 hour decant. Served in the low 60s F. Deep garnet color. A lot of sediment at this point. Port-like plummy nose with black-and-white shake, licorice and cedar notes. Rich dried black fruits on the palate, with sour cherry, dried leather, minerality. Acidity still present, but has finally integrated with the wine. Full-bodied wine, with silky, drying tannins that are almost velvety. 30+ second finish. A nice sipping wine, but not sure what foods to pair with it. Made for a very nice after dinner drink.

Still developing, rich dark fruit with layers of vanilla , cedar, cigar box - has lost the wet leaf nose. Long lingering finish - will try again in six months

Deep garnet. Nose of sour cherry and cooked black fruits, some leather and earth. Palate explodes with rich black fruits, with a long sour black cherry finish, with vanilla, leather and earth. Tannins astringent on first opening, but softened after an hour or so, the high acidity balances out the whole package. Good now, some room for further cellering.

Dark and concentrated. Mature now but no hurry. Good structure.
