The cork, color and intensity of this wine were still going strong. My palate is still slowly recovering from viral anosmia, so I won’t add a score. But my husband and daughter said the aromas of fruit were still quite intense. I was getting an over representation of prunes but still found it very enjoyable. The consensus was that it is still drinking better than expected but on the decline.

Allowed to breathe in glass 1 hour. Clear deep dark garnet color. Initial savory notes of meat juice and tapenade blew off after an hour to reveal a subdues bouquet of faded dried blackberries and black cherries, cocoa, anise, fennel, thyme, sage, spicy oak. Similar on the palate, full body, good balance, lingering finish.

Needed more time to open up, but great for a 14 yr old bottle. Slight fruit forward with alcohol on the finish that dissipated with time. Wine probably has a year or two left if stored properly.
