  • Got this for a great price - clearly nearing the end, but a treat to have mature syrah with nice acid, and mushroomy aged fruit.

  • Was suspicious due to age. Seemed thin in first 15 minutes Became true cote rotie. Smokey with good fruit. Not heavy, definately Rhone wine. Would get again if was still possible

  • Not a bad bottle, but sort of dull and flat. Some fruit, leather and cigar notes, but has a hollow section mid-palate and a short finish.

  • Unfortunately I think this wine is cooked... I bought 4 bottles, opened one in December and had that sneaky feeling that it wasn't in good shape, although it wasn't too terrible at the time. Opened one up 5 months later and it is definitely way past the drinkability stage. Its hard to say whether this one is just over the hill or if my bottles were stored improperly, but the raisiny character was too overpowering to even really judge the wine. I let it sit out for awhile thinking maybe it would blow off, but after an hour it was just as bad as when we opened it. I've got two more bottles left that I will probably open soon, but it probably won't be any good except for cooking.

  • Very cheap for a Rôtie, but this lacks the great bacon-smoke-blood taste which makes CR so memorable. Let this air for about an hour. An austere nose, with minimal fruit--some dark, dark cherry, black pepper, and earth. Impressive structure, great mouth feel with some residual oak, cassis, black pepper, finishing with vanilla and bit of anise. An hour later some caramel jumped out of the nose and more raspberry, almost candy-like, emerged in the mid-palate. Some smoke was there, too. A fun wine to watch develop. Good value.
