  • This is one of the OG “grand cru” rockstars of Washington wine, early in his career. Imagine drinking an incredible Bordeaux, aged and stored properly… and being transported.

  • Ten years after my last tasting, the 95 Cab R is now old. Little fruit, leaving a disjointed experience. My last bottle.

  • The Cab 'R' continues to hold one, but it's a shallow version of itself from six years ago. Good for the first two hours, dark red fruit on the nose, cassis, red cheery, smoke and oak. More oak than I remember in previous bottles. I didn't detect any brett in this bottle this time. Short to medium length in finish, but finishes a little thin on the palette.

  • Very nice. I was afraid that the 95 Cab R would be over the hill, the last time I opened up a bottle was almost six years ago. You don't need to decant it for long, it's great pretty well right out of the bottle. The tannins have softened up, and you get barn, tobacco leaf and dark red fruit. Low levels of brett are present, but a positive. Finish is shot-medium in length, The wine drank very well for the first 45 minutes, then started to recede. Don't decant it for long.
