Remnants from a bottle that had been opened a day earlier. Honeysuckle, pineapple, baking spices, apple pie, cobbler, on the nose - all kinds of sweet, spicy, baked things. Rich baked apples, stone fruit, and tropicals on the palate; Botrytis spice plays a nice supporting role but does not dominate. Good acidity and balance. Yum!

They don't make 'em like they used to (New York City, NY): #20-95. From half-bottle. Here we go, this is more like what I'd want in a JJC BA. This is simultaneously heavy and light. Showing absurd amounts of botrytis, but at the same time, lots of fresh fruit and acidity to balance it all out. A touch less sweet than the 1992, and more green- and yellow-fruited than the orangeish 1992. Thankfully, all the acidity you'd expect from 1994 is here too, making this the much better wine of the pair.

Excessibe Rhone and Riesling night (St. Marks Place Grand Sich, NY): This is more like it! Lots of botrytis here again, but this time there's a lot of bright pineapple, strawberry, and citrus fruit beneath, and sweeter vanilla cream and pastry-like notes in between the honeyed and spicy botrytis notes. This feels much lighter and more elegant than the '92 with fantastic acidity beneath and amazing length to the flavours. Great wine.
