Starting to brown a bit at the edges. The nose is of fully mature fruit, starting to get a bit on the rotten side, but not neccessarily in a bad way. Medium + body, high acidity, and a long finish. This threw a ton of sediment including a big clot that came out at the very end. Nice wine, fun to drink this. Drink now.

Showing brownish edges. Dark chocolate, smoked bacon, black cherries on the nose. Leathery yet strong tannins. Medium finish. Perhaps it’s time to finish these bottles.

Gorgeous right now. Medium bodied but light on its feet. High acidity, tannin is soft. Great finish. Nice food wine but also just a nice sipping wine before dinner and with a meat sauce. Drink now or hold a few more years.

The vigna Gattera is allways the more classical offering of the Revello lineup and this is confirmed by this wine. It has a translucent red color. The bouquet hast some tar and blueberries in the beginning. It needs at least an hour to open up, than more floral notes develop. On the palate quite demanding tannins making the wine very chewy. Overall an enjoyable Barolo at the beginning of its life.

An Early Look at 2005 Barolo: Dominant note of tar, this shouts Nebbiolo. Light with fruit that sweetens as it sits. Bark and fine tannins, not as much acidity here, but there is an appropriate dose of youthful austerity at the end to accompany the earth and tar in the finish. Really nice Nebbiolo complexity at this early stage, excellent authority for its weight, and quite accessible. Best of the series so far and probably my third pick from the flight.
