When a friend said he was bringing the '07 Hayne PS to dinner, I dug this out to be the pair. What a fun flight. Hayne was darker, more brooding and savory. The Estate was brighter and lighter weight in flavor and mouthfeel (alc 14% vs. 15%+ on the Hayne). Crisp red plum, magenta rim, lip smacking acidity. Had almost a northern rhone "edge" to it, kind of like how some cote rotie or st. joseph finish with floral "up" notes at the end of a sip. The Hayne had the more expected PS weight and intensity, but the Estate was a treat to enjoy and was the more food friendly of the two. Good now, no hurry though.

Typical monolithic PS. Still some tannin, nice aromatics. Lingering finish

Dark and inky, soft fruit - drink up, might be past its time.

Aromatic herb, and blackberry on the nose and in the palate with cracked pepper, rosemary and chocolate flavors with just a tad of sourness.

Deep purple. Full bodied. Crisp acidity, black raspberry, chalk, slate. Integrated tannins. Very good.
