This took me completely by surprise! These are some of my favorite Napa Merlots. The cork was pristine, color was still extremely lively. This reminds me so much of Merlot from Bordeaux vs many merlots out of Napa today. Aromas of blackberry, currant, cigar box, tobacco, baking spices and brown sugar. Still very fresh acidity and fantastic balance. The palate carries right bank Bordeaux cherry, clay, leather, cedar and some sage. Remarkable this 18 year old merlot. Who says these shouldn’t be aged! If you happen to still have one and have cellared it well it will go 10+ more years easy.

No detailed notes taken due to being at a party when consumed. General impressions were that this wine had probably started it's fruit fade, though it was a nicely balanced wine with smooth tannins. It was liked by all that sampled, but since I have no reference point with this wine I would simply agree with most other tasters in that it was fading and needed to be drank.

85-86. Agree with the others. This one seems to be a bit thin a potentially past its prime, maybe just past its prime. Disappointing.

not as good as the 02 and 03, which were delicious. Stick with these vintages
